The sessions will give you the skills to learn about your interpersonal style and how it fits in the social context, how your beliefs and your values influence your interpersonal behaviour and how to manage stress. Each member will have a safe space to share stories of their challenges and strengths and provide insights they have gained throughout their lives. You will learn in a confidential and supportive non-judgemental environment so that change will be possible.
Each session will give you a skill to improve your interpersonal behaviour, you will get to practice the skills in your everyday functioning, and talk about how you went at the beginning of the next session. You will learn about schemas (beliefs). An example of one is “failure” which is triggered when you meet people who you believe is more successful than you are so you think you are not good enough and this effects your interpersonal behaviour. You will then work towards changing your belief so you will react more confidently, feel like you add value and not avoid or procrastinate in challenging tasks. You will also learn mindfulness, how to identify unhelpful thoughts, interpersonal values, etc.
The use of Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and psycho-education will be used so you will learn new skills to manage your thoughts, emotions and behaviour that lasts.
